In many scientific and industrial fields, such as biology, materials, geology, and more, there is a growing need to be able to directly observe phenomena taking place at the solid/liquid or solid/gas interface at a microscopic or submicroscopic level. There are relative few options available on the market today. Observation using the Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) or Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) available on the market do not satisfy all requirements due to technical limitations.
This project involves developing a new tool for Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) enabling the real-time in situ observation of interface phenomena between solids and fluids.
This device will be compatible with all SEM models. It will be able to hold solid sample masses and handle fluid circulation (liquid or gas). The surface phenomena that have been hard to observe until now will be able to be characterized accurately for research, development, quality control, audits, and innovation in the field of materials and life sciences.
