Beam steering antenna

Emitting or receiving on a narrow direction requires focalized diagram antennas. Our invention consists in building a half Maxwell fish eye Lens gathering various shells made of different materials. This enables a gradient index to be obtained thanks to the different dielectric constants.

When this lens is illuminated by a source, the directivity is improved. For instance, when using a large open diagram source, like a printed network with a 60° opening, we have proved experimentally that this opening is decreased to 16°. Then the source has just to be moved following the 2 axes, close to the lens to disalign the beam keeping the directivity asset.
