Presentation

Studies conducted at the University of Lorraine relate to environmental dynamics, according to a geomorphological, hydrological and climatological approach in relation with anthropization. The laboratory LOTERR focuses on the characterization of natural hazards and territory transformations undergone under the influence of anthropic impacts and climate changes. It also establishes territorial or environmental diagnostics, enabling the measurement of large equipment’s territorial impact, the analysis of landscape evolution processes, and the study of identity representations, actors’ strategies, rivalries and conflicts caused by projects of planning or territory evolution. These information will help decision-making in relation to territorial planning and development, and will shed  light on the civic and political debate.

With a  « sustainable city » perspective, the laboratory intervenes on:

  • The “Ideal Pavilion”: a built and incomplete model of the residential route to re-think;
  • Renewal of peri-urban agriculture;
  • Mobility, innovation an new strategies on the implantation of economic actors;
  • New sustainable urban planning tools (SCoT, PLUi, …).

Projects/Achievements

  • Since 2010: partnership with Novemia (real estate promotion company) to conceive a dense urban settlement, energetically efficient, at controlled costs: the “écosquare©”was born...
  • Since 2012: partnership with several SCoT from the Lorraine region to produce new decryption and pedagogic tools, and think about conceiving regulatory tools of densification;
  • Since 2014: accompaniment of regional and local authorities on the TEPOS process.
