Cette mol\u00e9cule biologique permet, de par ses caract\u00e9ristiques chimiques, de conserver des donn\u00e9es dans un volume des milliards de fois plus petit que sur les supports actuels (comme les disques durs), mais surtout sans aucun apport d\u2019\u00e9nergie au cours du temps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-31409-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-31409-2-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-31409-2-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>La crise des donn\u00e9es est imminente\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-31409-3\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-31409-3-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-31409-3-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"4\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>L\u2019humanit\u00e9 fait face \u00e0 un d\u00e9fi plan\u00e9taire\u00a0: nous n\u2019avons plus les moyens de stocker toutes les donn\u00e9es num\u00e9riques que l\u2019on produit. En effet, la demande de stockage est, depuis 2010, sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 l\u2019offre. Or, la croissance des donn\u00e9es informatiques mondiales est vertigineuse. Estim\u00e9es \u00e0 45 zettaoctets (45 milliards de t\u00e9raoctets) en 2020, elles devraient \u00eatre multipli\u00e9es par 16 d\u2019ici 2030, soit 720 zettaoctets\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p><strong>R\u00e9volutionner les data centers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est dans les 2 millions de data centers du monde que se concentrent les probl\u00e8mes. Les supports traditionnels de stockage y souffrent de plusieurs limites. D\u2019abord la faible dur\u00e9e de vie \u2013 trois \u00e0 cinq ans en moyenne \u2013 des supports de stockage (disques durs, m\u00e9moires flash, bandes magn\u00e9tiques). Ensuite, l\u2019augmentation constante de la consommation \u00e9lectrique des data centers qui repr\u00e9sente plus de 2 % de la production mondiale. Enfin, ces centres occupent d\u00e9j\u00e0 un millioni\u00e8me de la surface \u00e9merg\u00e9e du globe\u00a0; ils pourraient occuper la surface d\u2019un petit pays d\u2019ici \u00e0 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Il y a donc urgence \u00e0 trouver une solution. La conservation sur ADN offre plusieurs avantages. Ce polym\u00e8re issu de l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie de la nature est stable sur des mill\u00e9naires s\u2019il est prot\u00e9g\u00e9 de la lumi\u00e8re, de l\u2019eau et de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne. Il n\u2019a pas \u00e0 craindre d\u2019obsolescence, la vie n\u2019ayant pas chang\u00e9 de support depuis pr\u00e8s de 4 milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Par ailleurs, il est 10 millions de fois plus compact\u00a0: l\u2019ensemble des 45 Zo de 2020 tiendrait ainsi dans le volume d\u2019une tablette de chocolat. Enfin, il peut se conserver \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante -ne n\u00e9cessitant alors aucune \u00e9nergie et r\u00e9duisant donc de plusieurs ordres de grandeur la facture \u00e9cologique\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apporter la biologie de synth\u00e8se au monde de l\u2019informatique<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alors que l\u2019ensemble des acteurs du DNA Data Storage s\u2019est positionn\u00e9 sur la synth\u00e8se chimique d\u2019oligonucl\u00e9otides d\u2019ADN, Biomemory, spin off de CNRS et Sorbonne Universit\u00e9, a une approche bas\u00e9e sur les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de la biologie. Le DNA Drive de Biomemory est biocompatible\u00a0: il peut \u00eatre dupliqu\u00e9 sans erreur, \u00e0 un co\u00fbt n\u00e9gligeable. Par ailleurs, il est bios\u00e9curis\u00e9\u00a0: l\u2019ADN artificiel ne peut rien produire biologiquement. Inerte, il n\u2019est pas dangereux pour le manipulateur ou pour la nature.<\/p>\n<p>Autre avantage, le DNA Drive peut prendre en charge des quantit\u00e9s de donn\u00e9es illimit\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>La mission de Biomemory est de construire un serveur de stockage sur ADN avec une \u00e9mission de carbone nulle ou n\u00e9gligeable et s\u2019int\u00e9grant des les data centers actuels.
