T\u00e9l\u00e9phones portables, batteries, ampoules vertes, \u00e9crans, voitures\/v\u00e9los \u00e9lectriques, turbines d'\u00e9oliennes, robots : la majorit\u00e9 de nos produits de haute technologie requi\u00e8rent, pour leur fabrication, des terres rares, particuli\u00e8rement complexes \u00e0 extraire du minerai. Les terres rares sont \u00e9galement des composants cl\u00e9s dans tous les aimants de haute performance. A ce jour, l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne est \u00e0 99 % d\u00e9pendante de l\u2019importation de terres rares, principalement de la Chine, dont la production mini\u00e8re repr\u00e9sente 60 % du march\u00e9 et celle des terres rares raffin\u00e9es d\u00e9passe les 90 %<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[3]<\/a>. L\u2019Europe ne compte que 2 sites de raffinage des terres rares sur 49 projets actifs dans le monde<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[4]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une position strat\u00e9gique sensible pour la France et l\u2019Europe<\/strong>, d\u2019autant que les processus industriels de s\u00e9paration et de filtration des terres rares sont \u00e0 ce jour tr\u00e8s polluants (faits de multiples \u00e9tapes de raffinage par s\u00e9paration chimique).
