BACKGROUND

The alignment of heavy optical components, cryostats require that these heavy objects are positioned with a big precision. Manual symmetry hexapods are available but don’t allow to work on such a precision.

HALARM principles:

• Manual hexapod for the high accuracy positioning of high payload objects following the 6 degrees of freedom

• The linear actuators-specifically developed for this hexapod allow the positioning of objects up to 500 kg at a resolution of 1 µm

• Comprised of: six linear actuators and ball joints at their endand Vernier callipers to measure the displacement

KEY BENEFITS vs. EXISTING

DEVELOPMENT STATUS

HALARM has been tested on the Sphere/IRDIS instrument composed of a cryostat weighing over 500 kg

APPLICATIONS
