Research laboratories of the University of Burgundy and Franche-Comté and Agrosup Dijon participate to the analysis and conception of new « sustainable » cities linked to rural areas. The interdisciplinarity allows several studies to be conducted, among which:

  • Land market study in an urban sprawl context: study of urban forms to promote a « sustainable city », urban sprawl/urban and environmental planning, optimization of land resource management in a context of competition between land uses (residential, productive, conservation).
  • Analysis of residential migrations: place of residence choice and motivation, residential localization and accessibility to services and employment, effects of residential development on the environment, on territory social cohesion, on the dynamic of economic activities and employment.
  • Socio-economic approach of urban dynamics facing the challenges of sustainable development.
  • Spatial approach of mechanics and phenomenon (consumption, productions, goods and services, market and non-market interactions).

  • PUCA: Urbanism Construction Architecture Plan, National research program ordered by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Territory and Housing Equality, 2012-2015.
  • MOVIDA: « city in transition », National research project ordered by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Territory and Housing Equality and the ADEME, 2012-2014.
